COVID-19 has changed the fitness industry and the way that we work out. Although in-person Taekwondo classes may look different with face coverings and distance markers, our classes continuously aim to help students stay fit while learning Taekwondo, build leadership skills and grow in confidence by overcoming obstacles and accomplishing goals. Moreover, digital fitness content has been in higher demand, and we are adapting in real-time by offering online Taekwondo classes via Zoom every Thursday.

To ensure the ongoing health and safety of our students, Chang’s Taekwondo adheres to safety measures outlined by the CDC and DOH (Department of Health) as follows:
  • No more than 50% of occupancy at the school
  • Wellness checks for the instructors and students
  • Hand-washing capability and hand sanitizer available for students
  • Enhanced cleaning of high-contact areas (doorknobs, floor mats, paddles, etc.) built into schedule
  • Social distancing markers
  • Increased outside make-up air and air-flow to the maximum extent practical
  • Limited nonessential visitors and individuals and no shared locker room space
  • Monitor public health indicators, and adjust orders and restrictions as necessary
To help keep our Chang’s family healthy and safe, we ask that members follow the following guidelines:
  1. To help with social distancing, we have a max occupancy. To help us stay under this maximum number, only participating students should be in the dojang during class. Anyone not involved in the class must wait outside. This includes parents as well as students arriving for the next class.
  2. Students should leave promptly after their class to help with social distancing and allow for cleaning.
  3. Please do not greet members with physical contact. No high fives, elbow bumps or hugs. Smiles and air-fives are encouraged.
  4. All students must bring their own water as the water machine will be disabled.
  5. Students must wear face coverings over their nose and mouth when entering and exiting the school.
  6. Maintain at least 6-ft of distance during exercise.
  7. Students must arrive fully dressed in their clean uniform / workout attire and be ready to train.
  8. Students and staff should not come and will not be allowed to remain at the dojang with CDC-identified symptoms (e.g. cough, chills, muscle pain, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, headache, sore throat)
  9. Contactless thermometers will be available for temperature checks before class.
  10. Members who live with people that have tested positive in the last 30 days or have been exposed to the virus should not return to training for two weeks following exposure and only return after testing negative for the virus.
  11. Older members and members that are immunocompromised or dealing with diabetes, hypertension, and coronary artery diseases should take extra precautions before resuming training.

COVID-19 has brought on many challenges, new changes and also new opportunity. We are thankful for our families who continue to support us as we take on the “new normal” safely and continue to do what we love the most.
