Master Roger Park

Master Roger started his martial arts journey at the tender age of three and has been training for over 30+ years. Master Roger trained at the World Taekwondo Headquarters in Seoul, South Korea and even completed an extensive training program which earned him his license to teach in 2002. He also trained with the highest level of Tae Kwon Do athletes from Korea National Sports University (KNSU), Seoul University, Yong-In University, and KyungHee University. He also earned his 5th Degree Black Belt Certification in 2011.

Master Roger emphasizes official Olympic-style Tae Kwon Do techniques and life skills including LEADERSHIP, DISCIPLINE, FOCUS, CONFIDENCE, and a “YES I CAN” attitude. He is an advocate of an active lifestyle where one is physically, mentally, and emotionally well. Master Roger encourages his students to perform well academically as well as maintain strong physical and social skills.

Master Roger started professionally teaching martial arts in 2005 when he took over Chang’s Taekwondo in Morton Grove. He owned this lively martial arts academy for over 15 years before moving his school to Northfield, Illinois. He has experience teaching Tae Kwon Do and fitness classes to over 1,000 students and families in the Chicago-land community, and has taught students ranging from 4 to 74 years of age from all walks of life. Master Roger has also taught students with special needs such as ADD, ADHD and Autism, as well as taught self-defense at corporate workshops. Master Roger is also a certified “Anti-Bullying Expert” where he teaches youth how to confidently prevent and manage bullying. He developed relationships with three middle schools to help implement anti-bullying programs and raise awareness of tolerance and acceptance. 

Master Roger is well connected with the Chicagoland martial arts community. He attends special lectures and seminars (e.g. Poomsae, Self-Defense, Demonstration, Olympic Sparring) to stay knowledgeable to deliver the best martial arts instruction to his students. He also collaborates with other Instructors in the community to share training methods in order to continuously provide the highest quality martial arts program at Chang’s Taekwondo.
